I received a call the other day from a customer that had paint overspray on her car from contractors at her apartment complex. Apparently, it was a windy day when they were painting the fence! The above photo shows the overspray that was attached to the paint.
A close up of the paint overspray clearly shows the overspray along with drops of water or something shorty after the car was attacked by the overspray. When I ran my hand across the paint, it was rough as could be. The customer was almost in a panic as she was thinking her car needed a new paint job. This is a common problem when people leave their cars outside, but fortunately in this case there was an easy solution.
I decided to use the medium grade Nanoskin Autoscrub to remove the paint. This is a foam pad combined with a very soft rubber backing. The Nanoskin Autoscrub is then attached to a Dual Action Polisher and is used on a speed setting of about 2.
With plenty of lube on the surface, I ran the Autoscrub on a very low setting. This almost immediately started to take away the overspray. It was amazing! Look at how the Nanoskin is taking the overspray off the trunk lid of this Nissan. Just make sure there is plenty of lube. I use Nanoskin Glide for the lube, diluted 7 to 1.
After a quick wipe and a one step polish the “new” surface is white again and looks brand new. This customer was beyond happy. I bet she’ll make sure to watch out for those pesky paint contractors!
